Delete your account and data
Applies to: the RecTake app, offered by IT Consulting & Development Tino Sanchez Ross, Bismarckring 6, 65185 Wiesbaden, Germany
First, the important part
Your entries are not in your account.
What you record in RecTake — supplements, medication, food, drink, caffeine, mood, symptoms, notes — lives in a database on your phone. It was never transmitted to us. So we can neither see it nor delete it. You delete it by uninstalling the app, or by removing the entries inside the app.
The account is a different thing. It exists only for the subscription: so that a subscription can be recognised on a new phone. This page is about that account.
What gets deleted
When you delete your RecTake account, we remove:
| Deleted | |
|---|---|
| Email address | the address you signed in with |
| Account ID | your account's technical identifier |
| Link to Google or Apple | if you signed in that way |
| Sign-in and session data | timestamps, tokens, active sessions |
| Subscription / licence status | the record of whether you paid |
After that you can no longer sign in with this account. It is not deactivated, it is deleted.
There are no voice recordings to delete. Speech recognition runs in your phone's operating system. The recording does not leave the device. It reaches neither us nor any other service, so there is nothing to delete there either.
What stays — and why
Named honestly, because Google explicitly requires it and because it is better to know beforehand than afterwards:
| Stays | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your entries on your phone | We do not have them and cannot reach them. They are yours | Until you delete them or the app |
| Invoice and payment records | Tax and commercial retention duties (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB, Germany). These records sit with the store, not with us | Up to 10 years |
| Technical logs without content | Timestamp, duration, status code — no audio, no text. Operations and abuse prevention | 7 days at most, then gone automatically |
| Database backups | A backup cannot be edited selectively without making it useless | Expires after 7 days at most; data is not restored from backups |
Nothing else stays. We keep no "anonymised copy for analytics" — there is no analytics here.
About your subscription
A subscription runs through the App Store or Google Play, not through us. So:
- Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription and refunds nothing.
- Cancel where you bought: in the subscription settings of your Apple or Google account.
Order matters: cancel the subscription first, then delete the account. The other way round, payment continues while there is no account left for it to unlock anything in.
Route 1 — inside the app
The fastest way if the app is still installed.
- Open the app
- Settings → Your data → Account
- At the bottom, under Delete permanently, tap Delete account
- Confirm the prompt and type the confirmation phrase
Deletion happens immediately. You are signed out.
Two separate deletions. The same screen has a second item under Delete permanently: Delete all entries on this device. That clears the diary on your phone and leaves the account alone. Delete account does the opposite. Both texts in the app state explicitly what the other one does not touch — if you want everything gone, do both.
Route 2 — by email, no app needed
Works even if you no longer have the app.
Write to:
Subject: Delete account
All the message needs: the email address you signed in to RecTake with. Nothing else — no health details, no bank details, no ID document.
Write from that exact address if you can. Then we can see straight away that the request is yours. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, get in touch anyway — we will verify another way and tell you what we need.
How long it takes
| Step | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Confirmation of receipt | within two working days |
| Deletion carried out | within 30 days at the latest, usually much sooner |
| Backups expired | after a further 7 days at most |
The 30 days are the ceiling set by Art. 12(3) GDPR. If it ever takes longer, we tell you why in advance.
You get a confirmation once it is done.
Can it be undone?
No. Once deleted, the account is gone. You can sign up again at any time, but it will be a new account — without the old account ID and without the old subscription status.
Your entries are unaffected. They are on your phone and stay there as long as the app is installed. Without an account, though, your subscription is no longer recognised.
Delete only some data?
You do not have to give up the whole account:
- Entries are deleted in the app — one by one or all at once. No need to write to us, because we are not involved in them at all.
- There is no longer any consent to speech recognition, and so nothing to withdraw. The recording does not leave your device; see privacy policy, section 8.
- Access, rectification, restriction — write to support@rectake.de, see privacy policy, section 7.
