German and English. That goes for the interface and for speech recognition. There are no other languages at the moment.

There is no percentage, because none has been measured. What can be said: if the app does not know a word, it invents nothing — it asks. Tell it what you meant and next time it knows immediately. Corrections are made by voice as well.

It asks: “I don’t know that one yet — what did you take?” It does not guess and it does not create a wrong entry. What you explain ends up in your vocabulary.

Nothing. It stays on the phone. The operating system turns it into text itself — the same recognition that works when you tap the microphone on your keyboard. The recording is discarded afterwards.

Until 11 September 2026 this was different: the recording went to France to be recognised. That path is gone, and with it the consent that used to be needed for it.

In a database on your phone — not on a server and not with us. You still need an account, for the subscription, but your entries are not in it: it knows your email address, an account ID and your subscription status, and nothing else.

Yes. In Settings under “Your data” you find “Export history” (a text file to read) and “Export as spreadsheet” (CSV). The file goes through your phone’s share sheet to wherever you send it – mail, Files, a messenger. We never receive it. The CSV doubles as your backup: RecTake itself keeps none.

No. No analytics SDK, no ad IDs, and there are no crash reports at all — not even ones without content. This website sets no cookies and measures nothing.

In the app under Settings, or via rectake.de/en/delete-account — even without the app installed. What gets deleted is what the account knows: email address, account ID, subscription status. Your entries only ever live on the phone; they disappear when you delete the app.

For both. It is the same app, built on a shared foundation — not two versions at different stages.

Not on every one. On the iPhone it needs an A12 Bionic chip or newer — that is the iPhone XS, XS Max or XR from 2018 and anything after it, including the iPhone SE from the 2nd generation. On Android it needs version 13 or newer and a language pack for recognition without a network, which the app can load for you. The app itself runs on more devices, from iOS 15.1 and from Android 7 — without recognition it stays usable, and entries are made by typing. There is deliberately no silent fallback to a server. To sign in and to buy, yes. Speech recognition itself no longer needs one — it runs on the phone. Reading, searching, typing and editing never went over the network anyway: your entries are here.

No. You can log medication — the app keeps it as its own kind, separate from supplements. That is all it does with it: no dosage advice, no indication, no medical advice, no diagnosis. What you conclude from your data is your business — and, in case of doubt, that of someone with a licence to practise.

It lowers the effort per entry, and that is all it does. At most it reminds you that nothing has been logged today — it never tells you to take anything. It is not a treatment and not a substitute for medical advice. Why the app came about at all is in the founder’s post.

No, none of it. A skipped day is simply a day without an entry.
